Oman Across Ages
Oman Across Ages is a new national museum that will celebrate the creation of a nation, praise human endeavour and inspire young Omanis to connect to their rich history. The project has been many years in the making and is the vision of the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said.
Oman Across Ages is a museum in two parts; the history of Oman up to 1970 and the 50-year renaissance that followed under the reign of the late Sultan Qaboos. The museum is of epic proportions and forms a unique legacy built to inspire the next generation. Squint/Opera produced over 50 media installations ranging from ultra-large format film and animation, interactive content and VR. Over the course of five years, we collaborated with Omanis to elevate their rich stories into experiences which will inspire generations to come.
Peak Tram
The Peak Tram is one of Hong Kong’s most recognisable tourist attractions and the oldest funicular in Asia. It has carried visitors to the top of Victoria Peak since 1888 and currently provides transport for over 4 million passengers per year. As a part of the redevelopment of the Peak Tram, Squint/Opera was commissioned in collaboration with Sarner International Ltd to create immersive digital media for the Peak Tram’s new visitor experience.
Squint/Opera created elements of a visitor experience that would provide informative entertainment for 1000+ waiting passengers at any one time, whilst respecting the tramway as a functional mode of public transport.
Four immersive installations were developed to enhance the queuing experience for the Peak Tram: Once Upon a Tram, The Beating Heart, Upper Terminus and Go Wild at The Peak
Lift 109 Experience at Battersea Power Station
Squint Opera was responsible for the creative and digital design of a brand new, state-of-the-art immersive exhibition at Battersea Power Station. The experience celebrates the Grade II* listed building’s historic and cultural influence. Set in Turbine Hall A, the exhibition serves as a prelude to the epic Lift 109 which at the peak of the station’s northwest chimney, offers unparalleled 360° views over London.
Battersea Power Station is an iconic piece of British history with its own story to tell. The station powered a fifth of London before shutting down in 1983. Battersea then became Iconic in pop culture and a mainstay on the bank of the Thames.
Squint/Opera worked with Ralph Appelbaum Associates to tell that story through dynamic animations, interactive tables, immersive media and soundscapes.
Abrahamic Family House
The Abrahamic Family House encompasses a mosque, a church, a synagogue, and a Forum where visitors are invited to participate in a unique environment, including guided tours, exhibitions, and opportunities to foster knowledge exchange.
Squint/Opera produced immersive media for three dynamic and engaging installations at this ambitious cultural site. Our media looks, in turn, at journeys of faith through everyday lives, the symbolism of light, the importance of the word, and the coming together of faith communities in places of worship. They each express elements of common humanity across three distinct faiths. They are deeply underpinned by the core messages of peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding, empathy, and acceptance promoted by the Abrahamic Family House.
Our media grows from and responds to the simplicity and beauty of the architecture – designed by Ghanaian-British architect Sir David Adjaye.
